Colorado 2010 – Day 36

Falcon: Acclimating

Thursday June 10, 2010

Today is my last day alone. Tomorrow I will ride into Colorado Springs and meet my mom. She’s coming out to be my SAG vehicle as I climb some mountain passes. I’m very much looking forward to spending two weeks in the Colorado mountains with her. I do not get to see her nearly as much as I would like to, so it will be a real treat to be with her. Yet, at the same time, I’m not ready for my solo ride to end. I’ve been having so much fun, I just want my own ride to keep going. Meeting up with my mom means I’ve only got 17 days left to ride.

I spend some time today sitting in the Adirondack chair reflecting on the last month. I also walk down to the shopping centre area to get some photos printed to send to Nigel, run some other errands and eat some Chinese food. I’ve been craving some salty vegetables for days. I’m still amazed at how developed this area has become in only 10 years. However, I must say this has been a great place to pause for a moment at the end of my trip. The campground owners are really cool folks who have completed a bunch of outdoor adventures of their own, they welcome and spoil tent campers, and they are just really, really nice. If you’re ever coming into Colorado Springs from the east – Falcon Meadows Campground will treat you well.
